About Gilleóghan Irish Dance
Where family meets tradition...
Gilleóghan Irish Dance is an organization unlike any other. Our award-winning teachers – Philip Owens, Terry Gillan, and Eileen McGinley-Watson – each have decades of dance experience, both competing and teaching, and are now dedicated to sharing their passion and expertise with the next generation of Irish dancers.
Form and Technique
Our mission is to help every one of our dancers reach their goals and become the best they can be. To do this, we provide constructive criticism on the basics of form and technique in both hard shoe and soft shoe, including turnout, point, flexibility, rhythm and timing, and more. Our ways of teaching have proven successful for many, as we have had Regional and National Champions for both solo and ceili, as well as 8 World titles
We Pursue Excellence
Perhaps one of the best parts of Irish dancing is the way in which it helps to build character. From a young age, our dancers learn the value of determination, hard work, and perseverance – all of which are skills that can translate to other parts of life. We don’t just build strong dancers – we build strong people.
We Are a Family
“Where Family Meets Tradition” isn’t something we simply say at Gilleóghan Irish Dance – it’s something we practice daily. We are a tight-knit group that cares about each person as dancers and individuals. We celebrate each other’s wins and create lasting friendships that truly make Irish dancing a special thing to be part of.
We Have Fun
At the end of the day, Irish dance is meant to be a fun activity. We want our dancers to enjoy coming to class, competing, and performing. The love of dance is what fuels so many to work hard to become the best they can be, which is why we do our best to create a healthy balance of diligence and fun. At Gilleóghan Irish Dance, you’ll work hard – but you’ll have a blast doing it.
